Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is one of the most common non-surgical procedures in cosmetic surgery field. In PRP therapy blood platelets are used to stimulate cell growth. The therapy has magnificent results on:
• Hair loss
PRP therapy helps to improve your complexion, that is the natural color, texture, and appearance of your skin, specially of face. To put it in a nutshell, it promotes tissue repair and collagen production.
In hair loss treatment, it stimulates hair follicles, thickens thin hair, increases hair count, and promotes new hair growth.
In this method, between 10 to 3o milliliters of blood is centrifuged for about 10 minutes. Once red and white cells are separated, the rich platelets are extracted and injected into the skin. It then stimulates the new skin cells and collagen. One of the main advantages of PRP method is that there is no allergy or rejection after the therapy.
The therapy is done with applying local anesthesia cream on your face for about 40 minutes. Then you will receive very tiny injection in the areas that need the therapy.
The first noticeable result of the treatment is an improvement in skin elasticity.
It is also noted that based on patients’ needs, the surgeon might decide to combine PRP with other rejuvenating treatments.
After the treatment
Avoid applying makeup at least one day after the therapy.
Mild itchiness may be expected for the first two days after the therapy.
Mild swelling, redness or heat is also expected on the area of treatment. Bruising also may be possible, but it fades away after a few days.
To get the optimum result, three treatments at 4 to 5 week intervals are required.
