The 40th GITEX exhibition was held from December 6 to 10, 2020 at Dubai World Trade Center in strict compliance with the health rules related to Covid-19. GITEX (Gulf Information Technology Exhibition) attracts many participants every year, especially since 2009 when Microsoft introduced Windows 7 in front of more than 150,000 people.
GITEX 2020 hosted business and investors through five simultaneous events:
- GITEX Tech Week
- GITEX Future Stars, the largest startup event in the Middle East and North Africa
- Cyber Security Expo and Conference (GISEC)
- Future Blockchain, a system for data registering and recording
- Introducing the initial version of “Mania” marketing platform for brand marketers (Marketing Mania)
This year’s exhibition was sponsored by major companies such as Huawei, Lenovo, Microsoft, Dell and others. More than 350 speakers from 30 countries have also participated either physically or online.
Among the speakers were Pablos Holman, the inventor and entrepreneur, and Brian Sally, the famous FBI hacker. The event hosted more than 1,200 exhibitors (more than 300 startups from more than 60 countries).
Representatives from Iran, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, France, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States were among the participants at the exhibition.
“It is very important and valuable that the global technology industry tries to create intelligent ways of working and living in the post-Covid world.”

From Tehran to Dubai with the support of Iran National Innovation Fund
After evaluating the knowledge-based companies and investigating them, finally 20 knowledge-based companies, including AriaMedTour, were selected to represent Iran in GITEX 2020.
Together with the Financing and Investment System (Karen), as the agent of the Vice President for Science and Technology, and the National Innovation Fund, we presented our latest achievements at the 40th GITEX exhibition.
Ali Amidi, CEO of Karen:
“The selection criteria were having a specific program to attend GITEX, export experiences and the activity field of the teams.”
AriaMedTour, the representative of Iran’s medical tourism in Future Stars GITEX 2020
According to the plan, AriaMedTour had the opportunity to attend two specialized sections of the GITEX exhibition along with 19 other Iranian companies.
AriaMedTour was also present at GITEX Dubai exhibition as one of the selected knowledge-based companies, and as the representative of Iran in the field of medical tourism, it hosted the visitors interested in this industry in its booth.
Startup challenge (Super nova Challenge) was held on the first day of Futures Stars. The teams’ meetings in the investor lunch section were also held on the second day.
We and other Iranian companies had useful talks in the Iranian pavilion by introducing our innovative projects and establishing relationships with international investors. Our investment meetings, which were about ideas, product and service performance, and requested capital, yielded fruitful results. Interestingly, on the first day, each company was able to send applications to a number of over 100 investors.
As a part of the participation of Iranian knowledge-based companies in GITEX exhibition and the presentation of their technological products to international visitors and investors, various investment meetings in addition to various specialized panels were held on the third day of the event.

In addition to foreign investors and international participants, Dr. Seyed Mohammad Hosseini, Iran’s Ambassador to the UAE, and Dr. Ali Vahdat, Head of the Presidential Innovation Fund, visited Ariamadtor’s booth and had a speech with the representatives of our team.
Why GITEX? Why startups and tech companies?
That being said, the high importance of GITEX is especially evident for innovative and creative companies in the tech world. Here are three main reasons for this value, according to the official website of GITEX:
- GITX is a place to realize bold innovations and technological advances.
- During the past five years, corporate and commercial transactions have been signed in millions at the event each year.
- GITEX has become the largest public-private partnership platform with the largest attendance from governments around the world.
Despite the challenges of medical tourism actors in a world that has undergone changes due to the outbreak of coronavirus, attending such events is doubly important.
With planning, it is now possible for businesses to survive after the situation returns to normal. We hope to play an effective role in maintaining Iran’s health tourism industry.
