If a large amount of fat is removed in liposuction, you might get loose or saggy skin.

Liposuction isn’t a weight loss surgery and doesn’t help you lose weight. It only reduces local fat deposits in certain parts of the body for aesthetic purposes. That said, if liposuction is done in more than 3 areas, the patient will notice a small weight loss (8-10 kg).

Every part of the body that contains a bulk of fat is considered an area in liposuction. For example, the abdomen, both arms, and a double chin are considered one area each, while the love handles and the back may be considered one or two areas depending on the volume of the fat deposits.

Yes, you can have gastric sleeve surgery 4-6 months after your liposuction.

The typical hospital stay after liposuction is one night.

After being discharged from the hospital, you’ll need someone to help you go home and assist you with your daily tasks. If you’re traveling abroad to have the surgery, we recommend that you have a companion with you or request a caregiver (from the company that makes your arrangements), for which there is a separate charge.

Depending on the number of liposuctioned areas and the amount of fat removed, the recovery takes between 1 and 2 weeks in general. After this period of time, the swelling and bruising will disappear and you will be able to get back to work without any problem. Of course, you’ll need to strictly follow the instructions and advice given by your doctor.

Lipomatic is the name of a device used for breaking down fat tissue and removing it from the body. A procedure using the Lipomatic device is therefore called Lipomatic, which is a newer and faster method of liposuction in which the fat tissue is broken down and suctioned out without being damaged so that it can also be injected into other parts of the body (fat transfer). For this reason, Lipomatic is a great option for those who want to get a well-contoured body by getting their own fat transferred to other areas in their body. A big advantage of Lipomatic is that it does not damage the surrounding tissues and for this reason it is growing in popularity.

The traditional liposuction involves using a cannula and hand movements to break down the fat tissue. In contrast, in VASER liposuction the surgeon makes use of ultrasonic waves to target and liquefy fat cells. In this technique, the removal of fat cells is done easier than in traditional liposuction, but using the device itself for targeting the fat tissue is much more difficult than other techniques as it requires great manual dexterity on the part of the surgeon so that he/she can delicately sculpt the body as the patient desires.

Generally, you need to change your diet after liposuction to prevent re-accumulation of fat in your body and stick to a healthy diet plan. In terms of the post-op diet, you should be on a liquid diet in the first few days after the procedure. Broth, pureed foods, and cooked vegetables are good choices for the first 2-3 days. During this period, you should avoid sweet foods and desserts and carbonated drinks. Gradually, as the swelling and bruising subside and the wounds heal (after 2 weeks), you can resume your regular (but healthy) diet.

Average prices are very close and there is no substantial cost difference between the two procedures.

Every surgery carries risks, which can be minimized by choosing the right surgeon and following the necessary pre-op and post-op precautions. In liposuction, potential complications and side effects include bruising, skin discoloration (which can be permanent), injury to nerves, blood vessels, lungs, and abdominal organs, blood clot, heart problems, edema (fluid accumulation under the skin), infection, dimples ad cellulite, irregular pigmentation, need for revision surgery, lasting swelling, delayed wound healing, loose skin, burns and blisters after ultrasonic lipoplasty if the device overheats or the surgeon lacks the necessary skills at using the device, and risks associated with anesthesia. The likelihood that a given patient would have one of these complications after liposuction is very low and most of them are easily preventable.

Yes, all patients (male and female) need to wear a compression garment or elastic bandage for 2-3 days after the surgery. On day 3 after surgery you can slowly remove it and take a shower. Then you should wash the garment or bandage and wear it again after placing some cotton or a nappy on the surgical sites. It is recommended that you keep wearing the garment or elastic bandage for 4-8 weeks for a faster and more comfortable recovery and to reduce swelling and help the skin shrink back and adhere to the underlying muscles, which reduces stretch marks and loose skin.

The period a patient needs to wait before resuming exercise after liposuction and Lipomatic varies depending on the treated areas, patient’s lifestyle, and the like. It would be better to consult with your surgeon about this issue because they can provide expert consultation based on your medical history and health status. By and large, you can begin gentle exercise and physical activities such as walking, yoga, and light at-home workouts 2-3 days after surgery. These light physical activities will prevent blood clot by promoting blood circulation, helping you to gradually resume your regular activities. You also can resume your regular exercises around 1 week after liposuction or Lipomatic, provided that you do not start with intense exercises. The general recommendation is that you start with 25% of the intensity and duration of your normal exercise and gradually increase them every day. It is important that you know your body’s threshold and don’t put excessive pressure on your body in the first few months following the surgery.

Liposuction is not intended for weight loss. It is done to remove excess fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. Some people hold the misconception that they can lose weight with liposuction, but this is far from true. Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that improves the shape of your body by removing excess fat stored in different areas such as the arms, thighs, belly, and love handles.
