Botox in Iran: All You Need to Know

Today, in many countries including Iran, injectable compounds are being used to eliminate wrinkles or increase the volume of the face/body. Botox is one of them.

What follows describes the procedure of Botox injection, its benefits, costs, results, and the advantages of having your Botox injection in Iran.

What is Botox?

Botox or botulinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by a bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum. This bacterial poison is one of the world’s most dangerous poisons. But in medicine, its concentrated form is used for pharmaceutical purposes.

Here, Botox refers to the procedure of injecting this compound into the skin for cosmetic purposes.

How does Botox work?

By preventing the movement of some muscles that cause wrinkles or deeper skin lines, Botox can dramatically smooth the skin. This compound is injected into the muscles that raise the eyebrows so that the normal state of the person’s face can be maintained with the usual movements of the eyebrows. Botox treatment is also very effective in eliminating the frown lines.

As age goes up, the forehead, for example, drops and its muscles try to compensate for the droop by lifting it. This causes muscle contraction and ultimately wrinkles on both sides of the forehead. Repeated frowning is also another cause of forehead wrinkles or ‘worry lines’. Botox injection is the solution.

Shall I get Botox in Iran?

Iran is a cost-effective choice to get any cosmetic procedure, be it a minor one like Botox injection or a major one. This decision can even make more sense as you are selecting a country where thousands of experienced doctors and specialists are available.

In fact, it is the doctor’s proficiency in injecting the substance into your skin which matters most in this procedure. That’s where Iranian doctors nail down their superiority. With a great number of people opting for this beauty enhancement procedure, Iranian doctors have gained vast expertise in doing such procedures.

It’s not only the doctors who you can trust easily, but the quality of medical services in Iran is also on par with the international standards. There are plenty of well-equipped modern clinics in the country which offer effective non-surgical cosmetic procedures like Botox treatment.

Botox injection procedure in Iran

There are a lot of cosmetic clinics in Iran which offer Botox injections. It is not painful and does not require anesthesia usually. After disinfection of the skin, the doctor uses insulin syringes to inject small amounts of Botox into the top of the eyebrows, the forehead and around the eyes.

The injections take 5 to 10 minutes. As each patient receives advice and he/she is photographed before and after treatment, the entire process takes about 30 minutes.

Botox cost in Iran

Depending on the doctor, commercial brand of the substance, clinic, dose of injection, depth of the wrinkles, and pre-op tests, Botox in Iran costs from around $10-$15 per unit. The total price for each injection would fall somewhere between $100 to $150.

What types of Botox are used in Iran?

Different brands of botulinum toxin are available in Iran. Dysport and Neuronox are the best and most effective brands of this substance, the former being made in the UK and the latter in South Korea. Although they are more expensive than other brands of botulinum toxin, their quality is very high and they last longer.

Botox recovery: what to expect?

There’s not any specific recovery period for Botox treatment. It may cause a burning infusion and mild redness that will subside within a few hours. Some patients may also experience bruising for a few days after the injection.

It is advisable to avoid lying down after getting an injection and avoid rubbing the injection site until Botox is fully absorbed into the muscles of the injection site.

Usually, one or two days after the injection, the wrinkles gradually disappear, and this lasts for 3 to 6 months. After this time, the effect of Botox disappears and the wrinkles will appear again. At this time, it can be repeated if the injection is desired.

What can Botox injection treat?

Botox injection has a good effect for the treatment of:

  • Vertical wrinkles of the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the nose,
  • The wrinkles around and the corners of the eyes,
  • Forehead folds, and
  • Asymmetry of the eyelids or eyebrows.

What else is Botox prescribed for?

In addition to wrinkle treatment, Botox injections are used to relieve chronic headaches and as a treatment for eye movement problems and muscle cramps. Excessive transpiration is also treated by diluting Botox and using it directly under the skin. This will reduce the activity of the gland. With this therapy, the sweating of the body will not increase for at least 6 months to 1 year.

Botox vs. Dysport

To date, two types of botulinum toxins are more popular for injection as a cosmetic treatment: Dysport and Botox. Both are more or less similar except that Dysport should be injected in a greater amount and it sometimes lasts longer.

Botox vs. dermal fillers

Botox and dermal fillers are two non-surgical procedures both used to treat undesirable wrinkles and lines appeared on your skin due to aging or something else.

While Botox reduces the wrinkles, dermal fillers, as the name suggests, add volume to the skin. Fillers are used around the mouth, in the lips or cheeks. Botox does a great job for the lines resulting from muscle contraction. Dermal fillers, however, fill the lines which are always present, no matter you’re frowning or contracting the skin’s muscles.

Frequently Asked Questions About Botox

Several studies have shown that Botox reduces headaches in people who’ve been suffering from migraine for a long time. These people have reported that, after they got Botox injected, they experienced fewer days of headache and discomfort.

While Botox is primarily used to tighten the skin and eliminate the wrinkles, it’s been revealed that it also treats acne. A study published on the Journal of Drugs on Dermatology shows that Botox reduces skin oil production which in turn prevents acne.

Botox injections are safe if performed by well-trained and experienced physicians. This procedure usually does not cause any significant systemic complications.

Of course, as with any other injections, it may cause some irritation and mild redness at the injection site. This will fade away after a few hours, however. In addition, some people experience a headache or mild nausea or cold symptoms after Botox injections. This usually subsides within 2-3 days.

A serious complication, sometimes caused by Botox injections, is drooping eyelid. Fortunately, this complication is relatively rare and occurs in less than 3% of cases. Eyelid dysplasia usually occurs one week after injection and gradually heals after 2-3 months. Fortunately, all Botox complications are transient and settle within a maximum of 6 months.

Botox results are temporary. They last for 3-6 months and you will need to repeat it after this period.

You’ll experience no pain and discomfort while getting or after getting botox injections. You may only feel minimal pain during the procedure due to the needle entering into your skin.
